PhD in History and Theory of Art from the University of Essex in Great Britain, critic, curator and researcher at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, he is currently the chief curator at the Museo Universitario Arte Contemporáneo (MUAC). He was associate curator at the Tate Modern in London, chief curator of the international biennial Manifesta 9 in Genk (Belgium) and won the Walter Hopps Award for Curatorial Achievement. His most outstanding projects include “Cuando la fe mueve montañas” by Francis Alÿs, “20 Million Mexicans can’t be wrong” (South London Gallery, 2002), “La era de la discrepancia: Arte y cultura visual en México 1968-1997”, Teresa Margolles’ project for the Mexican Pavilion at the 2009 Venice Biennial, “El espectro rojo. Fetiches críticos. Residuos de la economía general”, “El ideal infinitamente variable de lo popular” by Jeremy Deller (CA2M, Madrid) and “L’1% c’est moi” by Andrea Fraser (Macba, Barcelona).
